Shaker Lap Desk in Cherry
This Shaker Lap Desk in curly cherry and QS (quarter sawn) Eastern White Pine after Christian Becksvoort’s plans in Fine Woodworking Magazine was very satisfying and relatively fast to throw together. Highlights include through dovetails on the carcass, pinned breadboard ends with walnut dowels on the lid, and what might possibly be the cutest little drawer I’ve ever had the pleasure of cutting the infuriatingly tiny dovetails in.
Shaker Lap Desk in Walnut
I crafted another Shaker lap desk, this time in some awesome figured, extra wide stock and crotch lumber from Groff’s Lumber, for my Dad’s birthday present! Bottom and drawer sides were built again from QS Eastern White Pine; drawer pull and dowels turned from Gabon ebony. Finished with Osmo Polyx Matte.
